Minimum Position Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years of administrative office work experience. Relevant experience may substitute for required education.

Special Conditions

This is a limited position contingent upon funding availability.
This position is located at the Law School in Downtown Memphis at One North Front Street. The department is especially interested in candidates with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Oversees and coordinates administrative operations in the office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean of the Academic Success Program, the Director of Student Affairs, the Law School Registrar, and the Law School Diversity Coordinator.

Provides direction, guidance and communicates on behalf of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean of the Academic Success Program, the Director of Student Affairs, the Law School Registrar, and the Law School Diversity Coordinator with the University’s main campus departmental staff.

Serves as informational resource to internal staff and outside departments, providing information regarding the academic procedures implemented at the law school.

Serves as a point of contact for adjunct faculty; serving as a liaison between adjunct faculty and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Law School Registrar, and students.

Keeps the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean of the Academic Success Program, the Director of Student Affairs, the Law School Registrar, and the Law School Diversity Coordinator informed of upcoming responsibilities, following up appropriately.

Assists with in-depth research; compiles, organizes, and analyzes information, and assists with comprehensive reports and composes appropriate responses; establishes and/or assists with internal processes and procedures and ensures compliance with University and other governing agency policies and procedures.

Assists Director of Student Affairs with significant event coordination which includes, but is not limited to, catering, registration, speakers, room reservations or venue selection, and set-up and break-down for events such as Commencement, Orientation, Academic Success Programming, and Stress-Free Zones. Drafts and disseminates information to student body on behalf of the Director of Student Affairs, including the visual monitors in the law school building and on the blog.
