Position Summary

The University of Memphis’ Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON) invites applications for a full-time, clinical faculty position on the Memphis Campus in Memphis, Tennessee. Primary teaching responsibilities will be within the Master of Science in Nursing. Provide education through learning-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning, diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional development. Well-qualified candidates will be experienced and demonstrate a commitment to teaching and practice.

Responsibilities:
1. Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course outcomes in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment.
2. Assist to keep curricula current and evidence-based through knowledge of The Essential of Master’s Education and appropriate professional standards.
3. Design and deliver class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet course outcomes, the development of activities which support lesson objectives, and for online courses, deliver the instruction as approved within each course shell.
4. Enable the achievement of pre-described outcomes for student achievement and evaluation of learning by providing instruction which fosters proficiency and establishes student performance criteria and evaluation.
5. Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
6. Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and students and engaging students in the learning process.
7. Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing academic and attendance policies consistent with the college, campus, or online division.
8. Relate professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses, and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
9. Participate in the faculty development process to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities in learner-centered instruction.
10. Participate in service to the university and LCON through involvement on committees and councils, and attendance at graduations, as scheduled.
11. Performs other duties as requested or required.

Minimum Position Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program; doctoral degree preferred or MBA with credible nursing experiences for Executive Leadership Program.
State licensure or certification as applicable to the discipline.
5+ years clinical experience
Skills & Abilities: Sound, student-centered teaching and instructional strategies for the online and onsite classroom/environment
Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments, in the field of nursing, including the ability to document expertise in area(s) of teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content delivery method
Ability to communicate and problem-solve professionally while maintaining confidentiality of vital information
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships and work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Ability to learn from students’ participation, demonstrate fair and consistent behavior in all matters, and show compassion without being ineffectual.
