Minimum Position Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney. Must be a member of the Tennessee State Bar or admissible within six months of hire. This job will be filled at an Assistant or Associate level depending upon the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience.

In order to qualify for the Associate level, in addition to the above requirements, the successful candidate must have demonstrated success in handling moderately complex matters and progressive responsibilities, including attention to innovative problem solving, client service, and initiative.

Special Conditions

Work Schedule

The University’s standard work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
However, the successful candidate may be required to work outside of the standard work hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. Represents and provides legal advice and counsel to the University in internal and external administrative hearings required by State law and in court proceedings as delegated by the Office of the Attorney General.
