Position Summary

We are seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor for a tenure-track position in Instructional Design and Technology (IDT).

Responsibilities will include:

  • conducting research and generating and disseminating new knowledge
  • teaching graduate and undergraduate courses (primarily online)
  • advising and mentoring Master’s and doctoral students
  • securing external funding for projects

About IDT
Our program is recognized nationally for excellence and innovation. Our primary offerings are our Master’s and doctoral degrees, which are completely online. We have a Certificate in IDT with tracks in Educational Technology, and Design and Development, also completely online.

We have a strong history of partnering with local companies and organizations, and there are many opportunities to engage with the education, business, and professional community. We have advanced lab and work spaces for product development and media production.

Minimum Position Qualifications

Required Qualifications
*A doctoral degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a very closely related field, awarded no later than August 31st, 2017.

Desired Qualifications
*Research expertise in one or more of the following areas: design and/or development of instruction in various environments (schools, business, non-profit, health care, military, etc.), online learning, e-learning, or educational technology.
*Practical experience in instructional design, project management, consulting, media production, and/or authoring tools for a variety of environments, audiences, and clients.
*Teaching experience and interest in one or more of the following areas: instructional design/design and development, theories and models related to learning and instruction, implementing instruction in school and non-school settings.
*Experience, commitment, and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching online.
*Identifiable success in scholarly publication.
*Identifiable and focused research agenda.
*Identifiable success obtaining external funding and managing funded projects.
*Eligible for Full Graduate Faculty status in August 2016, as described here:
*To be eligible for associate professor rank, an applicant must have a minimum of four years of full-time higher education teaching experience at the assistant professor level, as well as a strong record of refereed publications, presentations, and professional service.
